As a key player in the higher education landscape, the University of Technology, Mauritius (UTM) is engaged in building research capacity in areas of national interest. In pursuit of this research mission, the UTM has recently approved the setting up of its Doctoral School with the prime objectives of cultivating a strong and well supported research community, developing effective research programmes and supportive facilities at the University.

The Doctoral School presently offers prospective research students the opportunity to follow their passion, develop their research interests and critical thinking skills through its research programmes.  The school foresees to offer conducive environments which support the development of multi-disciplinary research and provide our postgraduate research students with the best doctoral experiences.  

The school envisages to offer adequate research infrastructure and facilities for our research students, staff and related stakeholders, which will enable co-working, socializing, in person training and skills development.

Our research focus is aligned, as far as possible, with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Fields of interest are:

Tourism and Hospitality, Consumer Behaviour, Environmental and Social Sustainability, Social Innovation, Communication, HRM, Public Policy, Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Banking and Finance, Learning Management System, Applied Mathematics and Statistics, ICT, Interactive & Immersive Design and Development, Graphics Design, Mobile Communication, Digital Forensics, Network and Security, Telecommunication Technologies, Blockchain, Generative AI, Applied Sports Sciences, Infectious Disease and Immunology, Neurobiology and Mental Health, Counselling, Health Education, Occupational Safety and Health.  Other research fields in line with our research strategy will also be considered.
