29/08/2022 2023-04-26 12:53A very warm welcome to the Department of Creative Arts, Film and Media Technologies (CAFMT), a dynamic department driven by creativity and innovation within the School of Innovative Technologies and Engineering (SITE).
The department offers undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, providing a resourceful backdrop for the creative industry comprising sectors such as graphics design, film production, digital, interactive and emerging technologies, 2D and 3D animation, and traditional and modern media and communication, among others. Our flagship programmes are BA (Hons) Graphics Design and MA Graphics Design. We take pride in being the first institution in Mauritius to have established Graphics Design as a programme for both undergraduate and postgraduate levels back in the late 2000s. Since then, we have expanded and added other programmes as assets, making the department a solid platform to prepare our students for a career that combines various forms of arts, designs, communications and technologies.
Our programmes’ curriculums embark students on exciting journeys that inspire, encourage and challenge them to push boundaries to craft powerful strategies and engage smartly with the community in a wide range of contexts. Students are given opportunities to discover current industrial practices and applications of theories. Emphasis is put on developing students’ interpersonal skills, creative and critical thinking skills, multitasking skills and cross-disciplinary skills.
The Department of Creative Arts, Film and Media Technologies is a community of dedicated academics who are student-centred. We promote research, teaching and learning approaches that empower students’ employability and entrepreneurship abilities. Our vision is to shape students’ aptitude to adapt and lead in a fast-moving and ever-changing world.
Come, explore the learning opportunities available in our department and be part of our creative, resourceful and supportive community. Let us imagine and design an inclusive future together.
