f) Research carried out (brief half A4 max)
My contribution to research has primarily been on SMEs, with emphasis on working capital management. Through collaborative research I have, over the years, also branched out to other areas of research in the field of finance, such as Capital Structure, Corporate Governance, and Financial Development. Other areas include e-banking, financial literacy and digital literacy. More recently, as a Principal Investigator I have led three funded research projects, with the core aim being to address the inherent gap in financial education of owner-manager of SMEs and Women Entrepreneurs alongside empowering them in adopting e-banking tools. The innovative part of these two projects is to provide entrepreneurs with a Learning Management System; an e-learning platform – http://apprann-ebanking.mu/ that they can access anytime. Indeed, the said research project conducted by my team and I was commended for its tangible benefits and got the award for best oral presentation at the TEC NRW 2019 paper ‘A financial education e-platform for improved financial literacy of Mauritian SMEs towards leveraging future growth’. These impactful researches were also presented at the e-Learning Africa Conference in 2018 and 2019.
