This undergraduate diploma, developed in collaboration with the Mauritius Institute of Biotechnology Ltd (MIBL), aims to provide learners with a comprehensive and practical understanding of the principles and applications of biotechnology in industrial settings. This will empower learners to play a pivotal role in addressing global challenges, including those related to health care, pharmaceutical, agricultural, food and marine industries.

Objectives

The programme has been designed to cover the different concepts, principles and theories of Pharmaceutical biotechnology, Nanotechnology, Food science & biotechnology, Environmental biotechnology, Tissue engineering, Proteomics, Instrumentation, and Biorisk management.
Moreover, the Diploma programme includes a 15 weeks work placement to provide students with a holistic and hands-on educational experience that bridges the gap between academic knowledge and prepares them for real-world challenges and opportunities.

Requirements

  • Three subjects at A-level including at least 1 science subject (preferably Biology, Chemistry or Physics) and 1 subject at subsidiary level at Higher School Certificate Examination;
  • OR Pass in:
  • Two subjects at A-level including at least 1 science subject (preferably Biology, Chemistry or Physics) and 2 subjects at subsidiary level at the Higher School Certificate Examination;
